St Magnus Memorial, Egilsay

Fraser writes:
'Please find attached some pictures taken from a day trip to the island of Egilsay.

I'd always wanted to go there to see St. Magnus's Kirk. Although it took me almost 5 years to get there it was well worth the wait. The Church is in such good condition, and the site was very well tended. We also went to see the spot where St Magnus is said to have been killed [memorial pictured]."

Kirk pictures to follow...

Comments:
I waited from 1975 till this summer, 2007, to make Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre. I agree about how lovely and well-maintained the kirk is. It could easily be re-roofed, I would guess - not being an architect! I did not know about this memorial till I arrived on the island, nor did I have a photo of it till now. Thank you!
